I have read Clinical Dialogues in Hospital Medicine, by Dr. Gabriel C. Ukala, twice since its release in late December, 2014, and I have found it to be such a wonderful resource of medical information written in such an amazing way.
The cases in this book (as well as the section on electrocardiograms) are so carefully written to appeal to both the fledgling and the seasoned medical personnel. It is so well presented in its content and nature that both the young physicians in training (medical students) and busy clinicians in practice can find in it a great source of information of the best and most current nature.
I have no doubt that the teaching style adopted by Dr. Gabriel C. Ukala in this book will make learning for Internal Medicine students enjoyable and, indeed, refreshing for clinicians.
I have enjoyed reading this book and often refer to it during my moments of uncertainty at work. I look forward to future updates by Dr. Ukala.

This is by far one of the most detailed and informative medical books I have read. This book is the real deal, hands down. Very simple to read yet profoundly immersed in essential medical knowledge. A master piece of work to say the least.
This book is so well written that it is nothing less than a treasure for all new and upcoming physicians as well as the well seasoned ones. If you don't believe me get a copy of the book and you will understand exactly what I mean.

About the Author
Dr. Jonathan Matusitz (Ph.D., University of Oklahoma, 2006) is currently an Associate Professor in the Nicholson School of Communication at the University of Central Florida (UCF). He studies globalization, culture, and terrorism. One of his particular emphases is the Islamist threat to America and the world. On top of having 85 academic publications and over 100 conference presentations, he taught at a N.A.T.O.-affiliated military base in Belgium in 2010. Originally from Belgium himself, he migrated to the United States in 2000. In 2012, he was honored with a prestigious teaching award by the College of Sciences at UCF.

Excellent wholistic view of Terrorism

I have read a few academic work from this author and his book is consistent with explaining the complex nature of Terrorism and simplifying it's concepts. I personally enjoyed chapter 6 (Terrorism as Social Construction of Reality). In this chapter he does a great job of unpacking the cultural aspects of both the terrorist and the victims of terrorism. I appreciate his attention to the social construction of terrorism in the west.

This book by Dr. Jonathan Matusitz is a "must read" on a subject that eludes most Americans. They get nearly no information from the press, and the little they do get is generally erroneous. Professor Matusitz takes a measured approach sticking to facts which can be easily verified. There are no emotional of personal opinions and this work meets the standards of professional excellence. Although I was very familiar with the topic, I must say I learned a lot by how effective communication facilities terrorism. The cases selected for study were excellent. Buy the book -- you will learn much.

Vey informative book on terrorism and unique perspective from communication

This book on terrorism was put together very well. Most works on the subject tend to focus mostly on 9/11, Homeland Security, new media, or the political side of terrorism. However, Matusitz quite succeeds in offering a unique analysis of terrorism from a deeply communicative standpoint. Analytical tools developed by the field of communication are meticulously described, applied, and supplemented with case studies. The organization of "Terrorism and Communication" is coherent, building up from simple concepts to more profound ideas. This is exactly what I had been thinking was missing in books currently available in the market.

The conceptualization of terrorism as a two-way model of communication is fascinating. I like the author's idea of looking at communicative concepts such as "social noise," "signature method," and "conduit metaphor." The models of persuasion are adequately explained, and the "symbiotic relationship" between the media and terrorism draws on relevant examples (both past and present). It is very informative in terms of the functions and impacts of television on the audience. In particular, the eight types of audiences who have been impacted by 9/11 would be of great value to readers.

The detailed descriptions of the dangers of Islam would also be of great value to readers. In addition to terrorism being largely a religious phenomenon arising from Middle-Eastern countries, this book also makes the point that mosques and Islamic schools in countries such as Great Britain have been diffusing a lot of anti-Western hatred. To this point, Matusitz's use of Diffusion of Innovations theory adds to the literature on brainwashing and indoctrination (e.g., with emphases on the Muslim Brotherhood and the Palestinian authority).

Several chapters toward the end of the book deal with globalization and international affairs. They do a great job educating readers on world politics and history (which is crucial to any understanding of terrorism!) and major structural changes currently undergoing (new technologies and their bearing on cross-border relationships). This is another instructive strength of this book. It really buttresses communication as a multifaceted discipline.

A minor drawback is that, although the overall content is remarkable, a few chapters may seem dense for readers who have no prior awareness of terrorism and communication theory. At times, some chapters are filled with information overload. And phrases like "parallel globalization of terror" and "ontological insecurity" may require a deeper level of reading.

Aside from that, I would highly recommend that readers purchase this book!
